This week, I happened to go to visit Jean at the same time her daughter and son were visiting. We met outside and had a fine time making music together. Jean remembers some lyrics to her favorite songs, but not all, so she looks at me very intently while she sings – trying to read my lips. Her adult children were tickled to see her singing. After each song, she’d say, “Well, that was nice.” Through music therapy, the family was able to have a positive experience together, and share some family memories. The kids got to see their mom respond to music and participate successfully in a meaningful activity. Jean is a joy- she always lights up when she sees me coming, and her positive spirit makes my day, every time!
